Ramada Hotel Menam Riverside Bangkok Thailand Muslim Review

Period of stay: 7th - 9th Feb 2016 (3D/2N)
With who?: husband and elderly parents
Rooms: 2 connecting rooms with river view

1. Halal food at hotel: Fail
The hotel has 4 halal item out of around 40 items on its buffet. The 4 halal items were briyani rice, chicken curry, and 2 other items to compliment the briyani.
It failed my halal test because the halal section was only demarcated when I asked, and it was on the same table as the non-halal items. The hotel staff mentioned a separate kitchen but... the plates and utensils provided were the same! So basically they don't know what they're talking about when they say they got halal food.

2. Ease of finding halal food: Fail
The nearest halal restaurant is a Silom Street and you have to take a texi there.

Tips for Muslim travel in Bangkok:
1. Stay at a halal hotel, best is to find a Muslim owned hotel. Many claim 'halal' status but upon arrival its obvious they dont know what halal is.
2. Get a Muslim tour guide, our guide said he knows of halal places but in actuallity its just pork free places WITH alcohol. Considering that there are many available halal options in Bangkok, its our duty to make an effort to find them. Our food will become our flesh, so make an effort to stay pure.
A Muslim tour guide will also skip all the maksiat like lady boy shows, red light areas etc. Its good to pay a visit to the local mosque and minggle with the locals. Most elderly Thai Muslim speak Malay too, a perfect minggling opportunity for Malaysians, Indonesians, Bruneians and Singaporeans.
