2018 update from a blog reader:
"There is now a halal restaurant. It's named The Villa Halal. It's on the 1st floor above international departures. There is also a prayer place for Salah."
If you're not at the airport yet, fill your stomach before you reach! Don Mueng Airport is not a halal friendly airport.
Location: Departure hall, left side from entrance, under escalator.
Food: kebab
Seats: not many, so you'll have to pack and eat at the nearby Air Asia ticket purchase counter if its full. Plus the seats are not elderly friendly.
Ok hope that helps!
I didnt notice any Muslim running the shop, but what choice do we have? Again, do your due diligent!
I reached the airport based on Foursquare review that said there were 2 halal places in the airport.
1. I couldnt find the halal food stall at the office block foodcourt and the place is really not elderly friendly.
2. The chicken restaurant Piri-Piri? turns out to be after immigration and I didnt notice a halal sign.
There is a small stall that claims to be halal near gate 24.
Ok hope that helps!
